Sustainability in Motion

This blog post outlines Anchor Animation's green policy, as of January 16th 2026.

The 15 Minute City

Anchor Animation believes the 15 minute city is an aspirational idea. If you can live, shop, enjoy green space, access healthcare and work without unnecessary travel, the quality of life in the community will increase.

This isn't about restricting travel and personal freedom - Anchor Animation also believes strongly in personal liberty. It is about ensuring people aren't forced to travel when they don't need or want to.

During COVID, when fewer people commuted daily, we saw a drastic reduction in CO₂ emissions.

Anchor Animation allows all freelancers and staff to work from home, and always will. We conduct meetings and idea generation sessions remotely.

Generative AI

Anchor Animation does not use generative AI to produce design, animation, voiceover or music, ensuring our energy consumption is no higher than necessary.

We’ll explain why this ensures our output is higher quality than competitors who use generative AI, while also being more energy efficient, in a future blog post.

Products We Use

We favour products from companies that are Carbon Neutral or making significant progress to becoming so.

Major suppliers are:

Apple

  • Carbon Neutral since 2020 for corporate emissions worldwide

  • 100% renewable energy goal by 2030

Google (Alphabet)

  • Carbon Neutral since 2007

  • 100% renewable energy goal by 2030

Microsoft

  • Carbon Negative by 2030

  • By 2050 all historical emissions removed from atmosphere

Adobe

  • 100% renewable electricity by 2025

  • Net zero by 2050

Directors’ Home

By 2030, 100% of the electricity in the directors home will be generated from renewable sources.

Why?

The non-controversial truth is:

Sunlight reaches Earth mostly as visible light, which passes through the atmosphere and warms the surface. Earth then gives off the energy as infrared radiation (heat).

CO₂ molecules absorb specific wavelengths of infrared radiation. When they absorb this energy, they vibrate and then re-emit it in all directions - including back toward the Earth’s surface. That slows the escape of heat to space. This is the basis of the so-called Greenhouse Effect

Humans emitting CO₂ on an industrial scale is a significant contribution to global warming. Therefore, it is sensible to attempt to reduce CO₂ emissions where possible.
